One-on-One Advising Services
Making informed choices is the goal. How? By increasing a student's self-understanding, raising awareness of possible right-fit occupations, and identifying a postsecondary school path to get there.
By the end of our one-on-one time together, students will:
- Understand how the career planning process works
- Have a strong self-concept
- Select occupational and life goals to further explore and consider
- Have a roadmap outlining a pathway to move them toward their goals
My advising services are designed for middle and high school students who are invested in self-discovery, exploring their own career paths, and who would benefit from one-on-one guidance and planning.
I also advise college students and graduates in their job search.
Six sessions will cover:
- Lifestyle discussion with envisioning and budgeting exercises
- Assessment tools for strengthening a student's self-concept: interests, skills, and values
- Learning how to find and use online resources to explore and evaluate possible “right fit” careers
- Identification and exploration of at least two potential occupations aligned with student’s interests, skills, and values
- Development of an action plan of activities in and out of school to further learn about an identified occupation(s) and/or that may spark additional career interests
Job Searching Services
Anyone can get help with:
- Resume writing: using 21st century formats and styles
- Cover letter writing: crafting professional, well written letters to get invited to interview
- Interviewing skills: how to communicate effectively to land the job/internship/college acceptance
- LinkedIn profiles: how to present oneself to the world’s largest professional network
